Woodward, Robert Burns (1917-1979), American chemist and Nobel laureate, noted for his work in chemical synthesis. Woodward was born in Boston and educated at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.For his work in chemical synthesis, he was awarded the 1965 Nobel Prize for Chemistry. He is also known for his research on antibiotics.
