Du Vigneaud, Vincent

Du Vigneaud, Vincent (1901-1978), American biochemist and Nobel laureate born in Chicago, and educated at the Universities of Illinois and Rochester.He was head of the research team that in 1953 achieved the synthesis of oxytocin, the first artificial pituitary hormone. For this achievement he received the 1955 Nobel Prize for Chemistry.
