Rama Tibodi (1315-1369), Thai ruler, founder of the kingdom of Ayutthaya. Rama Tibodi's origins are obscure but he is believed to have been a prince of U'tong who founded Ayutthaya in about 1350. He may also have been descended from the rulers of Chiengrai-Chienmai. Ayutthaya became an important kingdom dominating the Chao Phraya basin, and Rama Tibodi campaigned to free the area from the influence of the Cambodian kings of Angkor.
