Boulding, Kenneth Ewart (1910-1993), British-American economist, born in Liverpool, and educated at New College, University of Oxford. During 1941-1942 he was an economist with the League of Nations. Boulding taught economics at various institutions in Scotland, Canada, and the United States. In 1949, a year after he became an American citizen, he joined the faculty of the University of Michigan. A Quaker, he devoted much of his life to the study of international peace. From 1959 to 1966 he was director of the Center for Research on Conflict Resolution at the University of Michigan. From 1967 to 1980 he taught at the University of Colorado, at Boulder, Colorado. His books include Economic Analysis (1941), The Meaning of the Twentieth Century (1964), Peace and the War Industry (1970), Collected Papers (5 vols., 1971-1975), and Stable Peace (1978).
